KSNT News - TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – Funeral services have been set for a 2-year-old Topeka girl who was killed Saturday, September 24, 2016 after being attacked by two pit bulls.
According to Davidson Funeral Home, services for Piper Dunbar will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Davidson Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Topeka Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. on Friday.
Piper's father Donnie Dunbar said he and his daughter were sleeping on the couch when he woke up and saw she was missing from inside the house. He then called 911.
"She touched my life in so many ways…changed my life in so many ways," Dunbar said. "Every decision I made in life…I always thought about that baby."
Police showed up and found piper dead in the corner of the front yard. Donnie says he thinks Piper made her way outside the home while he was sleeping. Dunbar says a family friend was staying at the house and brought along two pit bulls. He says he thinks both pit bulls came from the backyard and attacked his daughter.
Police took the dogs to animal control after they left the house Saturday night. Police say they won't have a decision on what happens with the dogs or the dog owner until the end of the investigation.
