Dr. Bob Beatty

Dr. Bob Beatty received his Ph.D in Political Science from Arizona State University and his Masters in Diplomacy and International Commerce from the University of Kentucky. He is a Professor of Political Science at Washburn University and has published or co-published articles in journals such as American Politics Quarterly, Political Behavior, Film and History, and Kansas History. He was the producer and writer of the 2005 documentary The Kansas Governor, which aired statewide in Kansas and Missouri, and hosted the PBS program Ask Your Legislator in 2007. Since 2007 Dr. Beatty has served as a visiting lecturer for the U.S. State Department, travelling to Russia, Mongolia, and China to deliver guest lectures on American politics, government, and elections.  During the 2008 presidential campaign Dr. Beatty covered the race from start to finish for 27 News, following all the candidates as they campaigned in Iowa, attending both national political nominating conventions, the presidential debate in Mississippi, and the vice-presidential debate in St. Louis.  

Dr. Beatty has a keen interest in political debates and has worked with 27 News to present debates in the key Kansas races 1994.  He is a writer for the Insight Kansas newspaper syndicate and his column appear s in over 20 newspapers across Kansas monthly and he is currently working on a book on Kansas Governors of the last 50 years. He lives in Topeka with this wife and three children and is a avowed baseball fanatic.
