Infrared heaters

The heat you feel when you stand in the sun comes from the infrared light that it emits. There are a number of heating systems that employ this same principle to project heat. Unlike most systems that heat and circulate air, infrared heat is absorbed directly by things, rather than the air around them. That's why you'll probably see it being used to keep hamburgers or fries warm at fast food restaurants. The most common home use of infrared heat is in the form of a special lamp used as an auxiliary bathroom heater. They are often used in industrial applications
