Muder Victims' Families Ask Community for Help

Kelli Stegeman

While there is one suspect arrested in connection with Topeka's most recent homicide, there are still no arrests in others this year.

The victims’ families are speaking out.

They want closure and say these murders can't be solved or stopped without the community's help.

The friends and families of Michael Holley, who was shot outside of Deep Pockets pool hall in late February, and Farrell Sanders, the 17 year-old shot in the back yard of a home earlier this month, gathered to speak out about the murders.

They said the community has been very reluctant to come forward with crucial information to solve them.

Holley's father Henry said he understands if people are scared to come forward, but if no one takes a stand these murders will continue to happen.

“We've suffered some major losses in our community in the last few months and not only that, they were young losses in their prime of life that their lives didn't even get to begin and now they are gone,” Holley said. “Somebody did this; we are letting Topeka know that we need help in solving these murders.”

The families say all it takes is just an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers.

If you have any information on the Capital City's recent murders, you are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 234-007 or police detectives at 368-9400.
