TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - House Speaker Melvin Neufeld says there
won't be any attempt to override the latest veto of a bill allowing
two coal-fired power plants in southwest Kansas.
The Ingalls Republican says there won't be enough members
attending the adjournment session May 29 to make an attempt
possible.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius vetoed the measure last week. It was the
third time she has rejected such legislation.
Neufeld is a strong supporter of the two plants. Sunflower
Electric Power Corp. wants to build them in Finney County.
But Sebelius' administration has blocked the plants over their
potential carbon dioxide emissions.
