Fourth Of July Parades

Fourth Of July Parades

It just wouldn't be the Fourth of July with out a parade. And many neighborhoods in the Topeka area did just that to celebrate our nation's independence.

One area neighborhood ditched traditional floats for one's with a little more horsepower.

Neighbors got out their tractors and drove them around their neighborhood near 53rd and Wanamaker in a lawn tractor parade.

Afterwards, the parade ended in a neighbor's yard for a July fourth breakfast on the lawn.

Folks in the neighborhood do this annually just to celebrate America’s birthday a little differently than everyone else.

Kids, adults, and dogs marched down 13th Street in the College Hill neighborhood this morning.

This is the 19th year that the historic neighborhood has held a parade.

CJ Online talk show host Jim Cates acted as grand marshal of the festivities and Mayor Bill Bunton even got in on the fun.

Bagpipes and the world’s greatest neighborhood marching band also made a showing in the parade.

Meanwhile, in another historic neighborhood, Collins Park geared up for its annual parade.

Parents and their kids decked out in patriotic attire came out for the fun.

Local politicians were out in full force too, some young and some old.
