Topeka Constitution Hall Listed as Historic Place
A building that helped shape Kansas history is now on a register that protects historic places.
Constitution Hall of Topeka has been listed by the National Register of Historic Places. The building is cited as "one of the principal landmarks standing in the American west." In 1855, the Topeka constitution was ratified at the hall setting the course for the Wyandotte constitution under which Kansas entered the union as a free state in 1861. |
