Police have released the identity of a man who was fatally shot last night in a Southeast Topeka liquor store.

Twenty-one year old Rickie Loyd Jr. was shot to death while he attempted to rob the Cormier Liquor Store on SE California.

Police say the other man is a black male between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall. He is believed to have shot wounds, but they do not know the severity. He was last seen wearing dark pants and a dark hoodie.

He fled the liquor store and is believed to have knocked on doors in the 2700 block of SE California. Neighbors 27 News spoke with Tuesday had not seen the man, but heard the police looking for him Monday night.

Police believe they know who the man is, but haven't been able to locate him yet.

They say Loyd and the other man are suspects in other recent robberies in Topeka, but are not saying which ones.

“We believe that these suspects are responsible for more than just this robbery,” Detective Jennifer Cross said. “We are also aware that there are some other robberies that these suspects are probably not related to.”

If you have any information about the man who fled the store last night, you're asked to call detectives at 368-9400.
