A fire completely destroyed two trailer homes early this morning in Willard.
Around 2:50 a.m., firefighters responded to a report of a fire at 206 W. 1st. Street. Dover, Shawnee Heights, Mission, Maple Hill, and Auburn Fire Departments all responded. When fire crews arrived, one trailer was fully engulfed, had collapsed and the fire had spread to the second trailer. Firefighters also found a propane tank in between the two trailers. Two people were inside one trailer and one person was in the other. Fortunately, no one was hurt. Fire investigators are still looking into what caused this fire. ----------------- A man, traveling at high speeds, led Topeka Police on a chase down Wanamaker early this morning. A helicopter originally spotted the suspect at 25th and Wanamaker around 2:15 a.m. When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver took off. He jumped out of the car in the 5500 block of Wanamaker and ran away on foot. Officers caught him about 30 minutes later in the 5000 block of Wanamaker. |
