Topeka Police Arrest Man In Connection With Robbery
Topeka Police have arrested one person in connection with a robbery last night to Expert Tire, 5320 SW 21st, and are seeking a second suspect.
At about 5 p.m. on Wednesday, a male suspect entered the business, displayed a handgun and left the business with an undisclosed amount of money. As the suspect left the store, an employee pursued him on foot. As the suspect rounded a fence to the north of the business, the witness attempted to scale the fence. The suspect turned and fired the gun once at the witness. The round missed the 44-year-old man. The suspect then jumped into a vehicle that was waiting and left the area. The vehicle was located by officers in the 3300 block of SE Emerson at about 7:45 p.m. Wednesday. The occupant inside the vehicle was taken to the LEC where he was interviewed and then arrested. David Anthony Cox, 40, Topeka, was arrested and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on a charge of aggravated robbery. Police are looking for a second suspect, described as a black male in his early 30s, 5’10”, and weighing 205 pounds.
