Jury Reaches Decision in T-Shirt ControversyMeagan Farley
A federal jury reached its decision in the copyright infringement case involving the University of Kansas and the owner of a Lawrence t-shirt store.
The 8 member jury found that more than fifty of the two hundred and six shirts sold by the store Joe College Dot Com did infringe on the university's copyrights. Store owner Larry Sinks will have to pay more than one hundred and 27 thousand dollars to the university under the ruling. Originally the university was asking for five hundred thousand dollars. The jurors have spent the last two weeks reviewing the t- shirts. The judge presiding over the case says she commends the jury for the verdict and both sides say they are happy with it as well. |
