Emotional End to Morgan Trial

Emotional End to Morgan Trial

Hannah Wooldridge

The jury found the forty nine year old defendant guilty on two counts of murder in the second degree and one count of aggravated assault.

Video of Morgan was replayed for jurors this afternoon in court before they settled on a verdict.

In the video Morgan and her daughter say they were being chased while driving... And that's why the three highway workers were hit... Two were killed

After the verdict was read, family and friends of the victims hugged the prosecuting attorney and thanked him for the outcome.

Both victims' families were present this afternoon, plenty of friends and co-workers were close by offering support... but everyone involved was very emotional.

“Probably the most emotional time I've had as a prosecutor, a lot of emotion involved in this, it was hard for everyone, jurors, family members, for us to listen to the testimony all last week, a big relief,” said Prosecuting Attorney David Melton.

“As long as it was taking we were really worried, we were on pins and needles we really were, I think it would have killed me if they would have came back with a lesser sentence,” said Kaylene Griffith, victim’s mother.

Friends and family were packed into the courtroom today to hear the verdict, and many are even planning to attend Morgan's sentencing.

Ramona Morgan's sentencing is scheduled for November fifth at nine in the morning.
