Pumpkin Patches Open for Fall Fun

Its fall and that usually means pumpkins, haunted houses and corn mazes.

Gary's Berries Fall Festival starts Friday and runs to November 1st.

This year’s eight-acre corn maze is in the shape of a giant pumpkin.

The festival, about eight miles east of Topeka is in its 9th season, and includes a pumpkin patch, hay rides, concessions and Frightmare Farms.

Owner Gary Starr says the visitors are the reason he does it year after year.

“The kids, the smile on their faces. They carry out a pumpkin so big they can hardly walk with it and it’s just like they found a goldmine, it’s phenomenal to watch,” Starr said. “The young adults, they come out here we have a great time with them, a lot more teenagers. The majority of them are good kids just looking for a place to have a good time.”

Also opening this weekend is Renyer's Pumpkin Farm with its own corn maze and pumpkin patch in Wetmore.
