Neighbors Want Deep Pockets Shut Down

By: Graham Winch

27 News visited with neighbors who live near Deep Pockets today. David Holmes lives about a hundred yards away from the back door to deep pockets. Holmes saw the police raid the bar last night.

Holmes said, "We watched them for a while. They started hauling out what we thought were gambling tables and whatever. I guess they got there computers out."

Holmes knew gambling and other illegal activities were going on at the bar.

Holmes said, "It's been a nuisance it’s been less than a perfect situation. We have had people killed down there, people fighting... 2 0'clock in the morning people come out if there making all kinds of noise... all kinds of arguments."

Holmes says he understands why it took so long for the authorities to take action against the bar.

Holmes said, "Well you had to have legal precedents to anything about it. That's the issue you can't just arbitrarily pull somebody down without a reason. They gave them a reason and hopefully it will stick."

Holmes says if deep pockets closes down it will make his neighborhood a better place to live.

The DA o hopes to have an injunction in place shutting down deep pockets within 30 days.
