Gov. Sebelius a Juror?
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Gov. Sebelius had to put off the state's
business for awhile today to respond to jury duty. The governor was one of 148 prospective jurors called in Shawnee County today. She spent about two hours in the courtroom, watching a jurors video and filling out a questionnaire. After that, she was told to return in the afternoon to see whether she'd be picked for a jury in one of three criminal cases on the court's docket. Her chances of serving on a jury would seem to be slim. Sebelius was executive director of the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association. Her husband, Gary, is a former attorney who is now a federal magistrate judge. And Sebelius has appointed seven of Shawnee County's 15 judges. But the governor says she has always wanted to serve on a jury. |
