Riverfront Development a Reality?Laine Baker
Thanks to a grant the Topeka chapter of the American Institute of Architects is stepping in to help the Riverfront Development Authority get together a plan for a Topeka river walk.
"It seems they want to get public participation find out what the community wants and that is extra helpful to us," said RDA member Beth Fager. The two groups met for the first time Monday, talking about a potential time line. The AIA wants to have workshops for the public and a web site so Topeka citizens can say what they think. "Everybody has an idea about what they want in their community but if we come together we can accomplish more," said AIA member Zach Snethen. It is not decided exactly where along the river to build, but the city said the area could even end up with a visitor center, amphitheater or condominiums. |
