Greensburg Tornado Website Up and Running

Greensburg Tornado Website Up and Running

Adam Miller

Since the Greensburg tornado struck, it seems as if everyone is scrambling to do their part. And one local Representative has been very successful in doing just that.

State Representative describes it as a “one stop shop for the city of Greensburg.”

It’s the official website for the city of Greensburg – constantly updated by city officials with the latest news and progress. And Burgess is confident this site will make a splash.

He says, “Right now, it’s more focused on disaster recovery and the beginning of the rebuilding effort. But, there’ll be a business directory plan that’ll be useful for them and hopefully, some other services they’ll want as well.”

The timing of the Congressman’s creation could not have been better planned.

“The irony was when we thought of it and made a couple of calls, it was at the exact same moment that city officials were in a meeting addressing the needs of a website,” says Burgess.

A few weeks later, their needs blossom into reality. But, the site’s not solely for the storm’s victims. If you’re looking to do your part, click on the section titled: “How to Help.”

Burgess says, “I heard the other day the Red Cross said they had received enough and to stop. And I just talked to someone earlier today and said, that’s not the case. There’s still a lot of need in Greensburg.”

So, if you know of any victims from the tornado out there, Burgess advises them to head on over to the site and sign up on the resident Email list. Then, all the latest updates from the Greensburg officials will be re-directed straight to their inbox.

GreensburgKS.org also provides evacuation notices so when severe weather strikes, Greensburg residents will know to take warning.
