Lawmakers heard testimony Monday on a bill to help track domestic violence.
The legislation would assist law enforcement agencies in documenting crimes related to domestic violence and track repeat offenders.
Curt and Christie Brungardt, the parents of a KU Law student who was killed 2 years ago, spoke in support of the proposed legislation.
Their daughter, Jana Mackey, was murdered by her boyfriend in July of 2008 and her parents have created "Jana's Campaign to Stop Domestic Violence."
The campaign's goal is to promote new and effective legislation to protect victims of domestic violence.
The propsed bill would require a domestic violence tag be placed on all legal documents associated with a criminal act that is based on an intimate relationship.
