Heavy snow fall hit parts of Northeast Kansas hard Monday.

USD 442 schools actually let out at noon Monday, causing a lot of parents to scramble to pick up their kids.

In Seneca just before noon, about four inches of snow had fallen. As kids got out of school, some of their parents had a tough time navigating the snowy parking lot.

The local KDOT office had sent out all of its plows and actually had one break down in the early morning, but they were working especially on getting those main roads cleared, and they do have some tips for drivers.

“They just need to know to slow down and take caution because it's definitely going to be slick,” said Gale Hunninghake with KDOT’s Nemaha County office. “That slush underneath there really causes the problem and it's slick.”
