Vandals toppled more than a dozen headstones at St. George Township Cemetery over the weekend.

Some headstones dating back to 1870 are cracked in two pieces. Someone going to put flowers on a grave discovered what happened Monday morning.

People with relatives buried in the cemetery came to check those graves Wednesday.

So far, the Pottawatomie County Sheriff says there are no leads.

“I hope that we find these people. I hope that they know what they have done to the community, not only in the cost but also the personal feeling that people have, how hurt and how upset they're going to be,” Janie Reavis, the cemetery’s caretaker, said.

The Pottawatomie County Sheriff says there is at least $5,000 worth of damage. Tax dollars keep up this cemetery, and township funds will be used for repairs.

If you know anything about the vandalism, call the Pottawatomie County Sheriff at 785-457-3353. There is a $1,000 reward for anyone with information.
