In anticipation of future budget cuts the Holton USD 336 school board has prepared a list of potential budget reductions.

"We're just one of some 290 some school districts in Kansas that are looking at this," said Jim Karleskint, Holton USD 336 superintendent.

The list includes reducing the number of athletic games, eliminating vocational technology classes and switching high school and middle school students from a block schedule to a seven period day.

"What's on the list is not exclusive there can be things added to it and we can take things off of it," Karleskint said.

Other potential cuts include eliminating several teacher's aides and three elementary teachers, which some fear could lead to larger elementary class sizes.

"This is where kids learn to read and we need to have the smallest class sizes possible in order to make that work," Mark Wilson, Colorado Elementary principal said.
