Some good news for Manhattan, a federal animal research program is moving to the "Little Apple" and it could likely bring more business to the area.
The Department of Agriculture's "Arthropod-Borne Animal Disease Research Laboratory" will soon move from Laramie, Wyoming to Manhattan.
The lab studies animal disease spread by insects and arachnids, such as mosquitoes and ticks.
City Manger Ron Fehr says Manhattan is quite a catch.
"Taking advantage of of the expertiese and specialties at Kansas State University and really a focus that our community has apprached on trying to recruit on bringing biosciences here." The lab will bring about 30 jobs and is expected to open by next August.
