Second Suspect Charged in Cockfighting Ring

A second suspect is charged for alledgely running a cockfighting operation in Douglas County.

44-year-old Jose Guerrero of Eudora is charged with one count of unlawful conduct of cockfighting.

Tuesday, Douglas County prosecuters also charged 44-year-old Ezequiel Olevas with three counts of felony cockfighting and one count of possession of cockfighting paraphernalia.

The two men were arrested after authorities raided a rural Eudora property Tuesday morning.

Dougals County property investigators recovered 169 birds including 118 gamecocks.

They say the birds were part of a cockfighting operation.
