2 of 3 suspects plead guilty in St. Joseph homicide

The Associated Press -

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (AP) - Two of three suspects in the stabbing death of a St. Joseph man have pleaded guilty.

Forty-four-year-old Kelli Hoard, of Elwood, Kansas, and 25-year-old Sean Liechti, of St. Joseph, both pleaded guilty Friday to second-degree murder in the April 25 death of 28-year-old Richard Berry.

Berry's body was later found in the Third Fork of the Platte River near Easton.

The St. Joseph New-Press reports a third defendant, 22-year-old Primalton Peterson III, didn't accept a plea offer and is scheduled for trial in January on charges of first-degree murder, armed criminal action and abandonment of a corpse.

Buchanan County Prosecutor Dwight Scroggins said the three defendants had slightly different stories about what happened the night Berry was killed.
