Teen Singer Nominated For European Tour
One McFarland girl is taking her beautiful voice across the Atlantic but she needs your help to get there.
Seventeen year-old August Ponte is a Wabunsee High School senior and while playing doubles tennis is a blast her first love is singing. She began at the age of four, but most recently you may have seen her performing at Puffy's Steak and Ice House in Maple Hill or at the Purple Powerplay Play on Poyntz in Manhattan. Ponte received a nomination to go on a European tour with the other top singers from Kansas. The tour will sing in seven different countries, and could earn her college credit. Ponte says she performs any chance she gets. She adds, “I love it, the bigger the crowd the better. I'm actually more nervous in a room of about two people than I am in front of a crowd of a thousand.” If you'd like to help August Ponte's fundraising effort for her trip next summer click here. |
