Kansas Governor seek renewal of energy tax credits

.
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Gov. Kathleen Sebelius and Lt. Gov. Mark
Parkinson are urging Congress to renew tax credits designed to help
renewable energy companies.
Some $500 million in investment and production tax credits are
due to expire Dec. 31.
Investment credits go to businesses and home owners who invest
in equipment for solar power. The production tax credits are based
on the kilowatt hours of electricity produced by renewable
resources such as wind.
Sebelius and Parkinson sent a letter Friday to congressional
leaders and members of the state's delegation. They said Congress
should provide multiple years' worth of tax credits to nurture
renewable energy.
