Kansas City Acquires 3 Vikings Draft Picks

The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to trade Pro Bowl defensive end Jared Allen to the Minnesota Vikings for three 2008 draft picks.
Minnesota will send its 1st round (17th overall) and both 3rd round picks (73rd and 82nd) in exchange for the league's reigning sack leader.
The Chiefs have said all along that they wanted to secure as many picks as they could as they enter into a rebuilding phase following last year's 4-12 finish.
With the Minnesota trade, Kansas City now has 13 overall selections heading into the weekend, including five of the top 82 picks.
Allen led the NFL with 15.5 sacks in fourteen games last season.
The Chiefs placed the franchise tag on Allen after they they were unable to reach a long-term deal with the 26-year-old Pro Bowler this offseason.
Allen is expected to finalize the deal in Minnesota on Wednesday.
