Kansas City Chiefs Draft Dorsey at No. 5
NEW YORK (AP) - The Kansas City Chiefs have taken LSU defensive
tackle Glenn Dorsey with the fifth selection in the NFL draft. Dorsey was a highly-decorated lineman last season, capturing the Bronko Nagurski Award as top defensive player, the Outland Trophy as the best interior lineman and the Lombardi Award as the top lineman or linebacker. He finished the year with 69 tackles, 12 and a-half for loss, seven sacks and four pass breakups for the national champs, all while playing on a sprained right knee and a bruised tailbone. Dorsey became a full-time starter in 2006, finishing with 42 tackles, 8 and a-half for loss and three sacks despite a stress fracture of his right tibia. The 6-foot-1, 297-pound Dorsey plays with high energy and determination with an ability to stuff the run. He rarely quits on plays and shows great agility and chase speed. Dorsey continued to play at a very high level despite numerous injuries his last two years at LSU. He has outstanding quickness and is extremely tough to drive off the line. |
