Kansas City Chiefs Draft Albert with 15th Pick
NEW YORK (AP) - The Kansas City Chiefs have picked up Branden
Albert with the 15th overall choice in the NFL draft. The Chiefs acquired the pick from the Detroit Lions shortly before taking the offensive lineman. Albert didn't play football until his junior year in high school, yet he earned a spot on the ACC All-Freshman team in 2005. He started every game he played for the Cavaliers and was co-captain as a sophomore and junior before leaving school a year early. Albert was a standout in pass protection, allowing only one sack as a sophomore. He possesses great balance and will send oncoming rushers to the turf with exceptional power. He adjusts well to blitz packages and owns the footwork rarely seen from a player of his inexperience, especially on run plays. Albert also showed an ability to play either side of the line in college without much dropoff. |
