Nationals Draft Washburn Rural Product Aaron Crow No. 9
WASHINGTON (AP) - The Washington Nationals have selected
Missouri pitcher Aaron Crow with the ninth pick in the first round of the baseball draft. Crow was 13-0 with an ERA of 2.35 in 15 starts this season for Missouri. He had 127 strikeouts in 107 1/3 innings, and his school-record 13 wins led all NCAA pitchers. Nationals general manager Jim Bowden says Crow is a potential top-of-the-rotation starer who has three solid pitches, including a mid-90s fastball, a good slider and a change-up. Crow was rated the fifth-best prospect by Baseball America. He says he's eager to begin his pro career. Crow is a native of Topeka and was the Big 12 pitcher of the year. He threw 43 consecutive scoreless innings, the fourth-longest streak in NCAA history. |
