I’ve always had a passion for photography. I remember the first event I photographed for The Capital-Journal, a First Friday Artwalk on S. Kansas Avenue, I took a photo of a hot-air balloon. Two weeks later, the balloon company contacted me, wanting to purchase the photo. That is when I got hooked on event photography. Now I cover everything from black-tie affairs and dedications to exercise events and activities in the park.
When I first started photographing events, my photos were of mostly the people at the events. Over time that’s evolved, now I try to cover the event as it happens as well as the people at the event. I enjoy getting shots of the people behind the scenes or back stage. After a couple years of covering events in Topeka, I soon became known as “The Spotted Guy”, or the guy that spots people at events.
I’m passionate about promoting events and organizations in Topeka. I enjoy interacting with people, attending events and taking photos. Putting it all together, it’s a win-win for everyone. The event or organization gets the publicity, people enjoy seeing photos of themselves and the events they attend and I’m having fun doing it.
