(WYFF) A South Carolina mother is warning parents to monitor their children’s social media after she says her 11-year-old son died playing a pass-out challenge game online.

Davorius Gray was found dead in his Duncan home last week.

His mother, Latrice Hurst, said her son was playing games called hangman and pass-out challenge where kids choke themselves to the point of passing out.

In a statement released through her pastor, Latrice said it is apparently a widely popular game.

“If I could rewind time, I would go back and heavily monitor his use of social media, YouTube and the Internet,” Latrice said. “I would just say, I don’t believe young people should be on social media and it should be limited to adults, or at the very least, with extreme adult supervision — where the parents can see everything that takes place on the sites — should be a requirement.”

Latrice said her son showed no signs of depression or destructive behavior, but was “a prankster and loved to play tricks.”
