About a dozen World War II vets gathered at the museum of the Kansas National Guard to share stories of what life was like when they served.
Angelo Demos enlisted to serve when he was 18 years old.
Now at age 93, he reflects on his duty’s during World War II.
“I used to go 100 yards ahead of the company, on the scout tour, to see if any enemy soldiers were ahead of us,” Demos said.
Demos along with 11 other World War II vets gathered to be recognized at the annual appreciation dinner.
The group shared a meal and swapped stories with other veterans and their families.
