68-year-old woman hit by vehicle in Lawrence

A 68-year-old woman is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car on Jan. 5.

Lawrence police officers were dispatched to the intersection of 6th and Michigan Street on a call of a pedestrian and car crash.

The driver, a 45-year-old man, was going northbound on Michigan Street, turning westbound onto 6th Street. Once he turned, he collided with a 68-year-old female in the crosswalk.

The pedestrian was transported to a trauma center by helicopter, with severe injuries. The injuries were later downgraded to critical, but life-threatening.

The car is described as a gray, Chevrolet Trailblazer.
