The American Red Cross has set up a shelter in Lawrence to help those that were affected by the tornado Tuesday evening.

The shelter is located in Building 21 at the Douglas Co. Fairgrounds, 2110 Harper Street.

In addition to this shelter, others are offering aid to those in need in Lawrence.

United Methodist Church Reverend Hollie Tapley offered free assistance placing tarps over storm damage and removing storm debris.

She asked that those in need call 904-468-0529 for free assistance, and that callers leave their full name and a contact number.

On Facebook, many Kansans have been offering their time and resources to help those that were in the path of the storm.

Douglas Co. Emergency Management said they did not need citizen volunteers Tuesday evening, but would announce if and when they need them on their Facebook page, which can be found here
