Work began on a new major street project in Topeka on Monday.
Crews are working on removing and replacing southeast Adams Street.
The road will be closed from 33rd to 37th streets.
Topeka city leaders said they’re working on these projects because of resident feedback. They sent out surveys to 3,000 households in November and found people are most concerned about street maintenance.
Some business employees are excited about the improvements.
“It’s an inconvenience for us and for the neighborhood, but it’s a good thing because this road needs to be redone,” said Chris Cain. “It’s in bad shape, it’s been this way since we’ve been here and it’s been about a year and a half.”
The road will be closed through October.
