People will soon be able to drink at Shawnee County Softball Fields.
County commissioners voted to allow alcohol to be sold at adult softball fields.
Shawnee County Parks and Recreation says they intend for the sales to benefit taxpayers. A portion of the taxes will go back to the county.
“One thing I was really concerned about,” said John Knight of Shawnee County Parks and Recreation.”I didn’t want to malign our softball community because we have thousands of people who play there, thousands of games played on and very, very few incidents with alcohol.”
Parks and Recreation said this will bring in adult softball tournaments to the city, who may otherwise not have came because of the lack of alcohol.
