EVEREST (KSNT) – Brown County Sheriff John Merchant said a 55 year-old Horton man was injured after being involved in a motorcycle accident Wednesday night.

Merchant said the accident happened at around 9 p.m. on Highway 73 near Prairie Road just west of the town of Everest. A 1994 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Billy Richardson was westbound on U-S Highway 73 when a 2005 Saturn Ion driven by 69 year-old Kayrol Reese of Everest, who was eastbound, turned on to Prairie Road failing to yield to the motorcycle. Richardson struck the passenger side rear of the Saturn causing him to be ejected.

Richardson was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. He was flown to KU Med center from the scene with disabling injuries. Reese was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and was not injured. She was issued a citation for failure to yield. U-S Highway 73 was shut down for a short period of time.
