Debit cards pay off for local organizations

News

Seven organizations are feeling a lot better off today. That’s thanks to a special kind of debit card.

Azura Credit Union’s Community Impact Debit Card program donates five cents to the organization of your choice each time you use it.

The cards are available to all members.

Nearly $30,000 was raised in 2018.

Members can choose from TARC, Topeka Rescue Mission, Miltary Veteran Project, Harvesters, Boys & Girls Club of Topeka, Supporting Kids Foundation, and Topeka Community Cycle.

“Every time they select a nonprofit, it’s their way of telling the credit union, which is a not-for-profit financial institution, where they want their financial donations to go,” said Allyson Shove-Chard, vice president of marketing at Azura.

“It’s their way in having a voice and sharing what organization is important to them.”

TARC led the way with nearly 1,000 cards in circulation and making over $13,000.
