Designers’ Showhouse open for “bare bones” preview this weekend

Child Care Aware of Eastern Kansas is unveiling the 2019 Designers’ Showhouse during a “bare bones” preview this weekend. The home located at 1111 SW Ottawa Trail will be remodeled with the help of local designers and flipped as a fundraiser for the organization.

The home sits on a nearly three acre lot. It has four bedrooms, with four on-suite baths. It has a large kitchen, dining room, living room and family room. Child Care Aware bought the home from the original owners who raised their family in it.

“The house was built in 1993 and they just took great care of it, so we’re excited to kind of show some newer things in the design front and maybe open up a wall or two,” said Eryn Allen with Child Care Aware.

Child Care Aware is involving the public in the design process. One of the four suites will be designed with the help of social media. Fans will get to design different aspects of the room through voting on Facebook.

The Bare Bones Preview is from 10 am to 5 pm Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $5. The home will be remodeled and then open to the public again this spring.
