Topeka Police are reminding people not to drink and drive after a drunk driver slammed into a stopped patrol car Sunday night.
Topeka Police were helping Washburn Police with a traffic stop around 9:00 p.m. Sunday when a drunk driver hit the back of the patrol car.
Topeka Police posted a photo of the car on Facebook, saying “miraculously, the driver was not badly injured.” No officers were in the car when the crash happened.
They’re using the incident as an opportunity to remind people that drunk driving not only affects the driver, but also the people around them.
Police said the man who hit the patrol car was taken to the Shawnee County Jail on a DUI charge and other traffic charges. He is identified as 40-year-old Michael Stringfield.
