Third-grade students at Topeka Collegiate School created their own rainforest.
The ecosystem was complete with turtles, snakes, Gorillas, butterflies and other animals.
The creatures were crafted by students and their families, but much of the hard work was done in the classroom before creating the rainforest.
“In the lead up we start learning about the rainforest, they start picking animals they’d like to research, they’ll write a research paper, they share facts about the animal,” said teacher Marilyn Kido.
After the research was complete and the creatures created, the students gave tours of the recreated rainforest to share with others what they’ve learned.
