Former Topeka restaurant transformed into house

Plantation Steakhouse used to open its doors to diners north of Topeka, but for several years it has remained closed.

Last year we told you it was being renovated into a house. In the process, the restaurant was completely gutted, with the walls as the only original pieces. Renovators say they found some inspiration for the project in unique places.

“During the demo phase, we happened to find, you know, the old menus. And it had the picture of what it used to look like 40 to 50 years ago,” said Tim Rhodd, a remodel specialist for Home Improvement Gallery.

Now all that’s missing for the house is someone to call it home.

There will be an open house that is open to the public on April 2nd from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30.
