The new year means a new job and a new home for Governor-elect Laura Kelly.
Kelly said she and her husband are planning a move to Cedar Crest. She said she hopes to move in sometime over the weekend, before her inauguration on Monday.
Governor Colyer made the choice not to live in the home, but Kelly said she thinks it’s important that she will.
“I think it’s where the Governor and the first spouse ought to live,” Kelly said, “That is the people’s house and I think there’s an expectation across Kansas that their leader and their leader’s family ought to live there.”
Kelly said some focuses of her administration will be education and healthcare. She also plans to sign an executive order protecting the LGBTQ community from discrimination.
