We’re tracking another long stretch of hot and humid weather – what a way to welcome in August! Expect high temperatures to flirt with 100° each and every day through Thursday. There could be a passing shower throughout this period, but for the most-part, Northeast Kansas remains rain-free, hot and humid. Heat index values will approach 110° as early as this afternoon. You’ll remember that it wasn’t too long ago (2 weeks ago to be exact) that we had triple digit heat. However, coming off of last week’s unseasonably cool (and somewhat rainy) weather – this week is going to FEEL that much hotter. Drink plenty of water, take it easy if you have to be outside for longer lengths of time, and don’t forget about your pets. Stay cool as best as you can as we all sweat through the ‘dog days’ of summer.
We’re also tracking a late-week storm system that could bring some heat relief by Friday. Clouds will likely increase on Friday afternoon – setting the stage for showers and storms into the weekend. At this point, it’s far too early to pinpoint specific weekend rain chances. However, temperatures will definitely be cooler; expect daytime temps in the 70s and 80s. Keep checking back for regular forecast updates – we’ve got your back! You’re already in the right place for the latest weather information across Northeast Kansas. Stay tuned!
Have a great day!
