The Emporia State basketball team rallied from 16 points down in the second half to defeat Northeastern State 72-68 in the MIAA Tournament. It was the third victory for the Hornets over the Riverhawks this season.
Julius Jackson led the Hornets with 20 points and a career-high 6 assists. Kooper Glick added 19 points while Sawyer Glick had 15.
“We went to the huddle and we made sure we talked it over and we knew since it was our last game we had to come together as a collective unit and pull it together on both ends,” said Jackson.
“I felt terrible going into halftime here because we weren’t getting good shots and they were getting into the paint and getting layups, so a complete 360 had to take place and again these guys just found a way,” added head coach Craig Doty.
“We’re a tough team, we battled to get here and for a while it didn’t look like we could make it and we went on a little run at the end, so we’re not scared of anybody,” said Sawyer Glick who is playing through a herniated disc in his back.
The Hornets face off with the top seed and number one ranked team in the nation Northwest Missouri State Thursday at noon.
