TOPEKA (KSNT) – The owner of a Topeka jewelry store changed his plea Wednesday in a case against him.

Fifty-three-year-old John Dasher, of Silver Lake, pleaded guilty Wednesday in U.S. District Court. He admitted to one count of transporting stolen goods.

Sentencing is set for a later date, but both parties agreed to recommend 12 months in prison followed by 2 years supervised release.

In his plea he admitted that from 2010 to 2013 while he owned the Diamond House in Topeka he bought jewelry he knew was stolen in home invasions.

He then melted down the gold he paid a fraction of the value and mailed it to gold wholesalers.
