The officer and Lyons man are now in stable condition, according to a press release from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation.
The Rice County Sheriff’s Office and Lyons police are responding to an officer involved shooting Friday afternoon, according to a Kansas Bureau of Investigations spokesperson.
Preliminary information from KBI indicates that the Lyons Police Department received a 911 call at approximately 3:40 p.m. Friday from a man they said was being threatened with a gun.
An officer dispatched to a home near South Reed Avenue and Arrowhead Drive was reportedly shot by 40-year-old Adam Hrabik of Lyons. KBI says the officer was assisted by two nearby citizens who took him to a local medical facility before he was transported to a Wichita hospital. The officer is currently in stable condition.
When additional officers and deputies arrived at the residence they found a second man, a 56-year-old Lyons resident, who had also been shot. The man was removed from the scene and taken to a local hospital before being transported to a Wichita facility in serious condition.
Officers have taken a the suspect into custody following the shooting of one officer and a Lyons man. Both the man and the officer are being treated at local hospitals, according to KSN.
A Lyons Police Officer and a Lyons man were both shot and have been transported to Wichita hospitals, according to a KBI agent. One of the hospitals confirmed the man is in serious condition.
Law enforcement agencies are actively working in the area.
