There have been plenty of stand out players in high school football this season and now KSNT is introducing “Player of the Year Watch.” “Player of the Year Watch” highlights the top high school football performers in Northeast Kansas.
At the end of the regular season KSNT will announce finalists for its Player of the Year award. The Player of the Year will be announced on KSNT the following week.
Any player in KSNT’s viewing area is eligible. Players outside of KSNT’s viewing area are not eligible.
Player of the Year Watch List
Ky Thomas – Topeka High
Topeka High’s Ky Thomas has been simply dominant. There’s a reason he’s being recruited by power 5 schools, including K-State and KU. Any time he touches the ball he can go the distance. Thomas is averaging nearly 10 yards per carry and has rushed for over 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Jordan White – Washburn-Rural
Washburn Rural’s Jordan White is having a monster senior season. The Junior Blues QB has 26 total touchdowns, 17 on the ground, and 9 through the air. He’s passed for 866 yards and run for 546.
Dalton Kellum – Perry-Lecompton
Dalton Kellum has been putting up big game after big game for Perry-Lecompton. He’s already over 1,000 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns on the ground. He’s also a threat in the passing game with 426 yards and 6 touchdowns.
Kevontae McDonald – Manhattan
Manhattan’s Kevontate McDonald might be one of the most underrated players in Northeast Kansas. The senior is averaging nearly 7 yards per carry and has rushed for 934 yards and 17 touchdowns.
Mason Griffin – Silver Lake
Silver Lake has a perfect record this season and senior quarterback Mason Griffin is a big reason why. Griffin has thrown for 13 touchdown passes with just 1 interception. He’s thrown for over 1,000 yards and is completing 62% of his passes.
Gabe Garber – Sabetha
The defending state champion Sabetha Bluejays remain unbeaten and Gabe Garber has led the way. Garber has 16 total touchdowns, 11 rushing, and 5 through the air. The dual threat QB has 432 yards passing and 559 yards rushing.
