LAWRENCE (KSNT) – Media Day is in the books for the 2016-17 Kansas men’s basketball team. The Jayhawks took team pictures and fielded questions from different members of the media in preparation for the start of college basketball.

Kansas has won 12 consecutive Big 12 regular-season championships and will be eyeing a record-tying 13th this winter. Despite losing Perry Ellis, Wayne Selden, and Cheick Diallo to the NBA, the Jayhawks return plenty of talent in the back-court with Frank Mason and Devonte’ Graham, as well as Carlton Bragg and Landen Lucas in the front-court.

One of the most prized freshman in the country will also play inside Allen Fieldhouse this season; Josh Jackson.

“I think we’re going to have a great year,” said Jackson. “We’ve got a great team. It’s pretty exciting that it’s just right around the corner and I’m really curious to see what we can do this year.”

“We’re trying to play even faster than we did last year,” said Graham. “But also, we have to focus on getting our big fellas touches, which is one thing we’ve been working on.”

“Having old guys that can teach young guys and having talented guys that the young guys all respect is great,” said head coach Bill Self. “But then having an unknown X-factor that can take your team to a level it wasn’t capable of going the year before is the best combination.”

“It’s not just all about me and Devonte’,” said Mason. “The chemistry with us two is great and it’s only getting better each and every day throughout practice. I’m looking forward to getting on the court with one of my back-court mates.”

“I’ve always been a really competitive guy,” said Jackson. They’re (Mason & Graham) pretty much the same as me. And I think the best thing for me is coming to practice every day knowing that those two are going to go at me really hard every day. It’s not going to do anything but make me better and make them better.”

KU will begin its 2016-17 season with an exhibition game on against Washburn on November 1st.
